First Baptist Church St. Simons Island

First Baptist Preschool

It is with great excitement that we announce our new preschool opened in August 2018!

Conveniently located directly next to St Simons Elementary, First Baptist Preschool will have a warm Christian atmosphere with appropriate levels of early academic education and plenty of active play in our indoor & outdoor playgrounds plus full sized gym! With a focus on quality, the school will maintain small classroom size and low student/teacher ratio – all with a comparable (or even lower!) tuition to other, larger schools.

Registration for the 2019 -2020 School Year is now open.  Download the 2019-2020 Summer Enrollment form here;

What are FBPs hours of operation?

The Preschool is open from 7am- 6pm, Monday- Friday.  We follow the Glynn County School calendar from August- May and are open on Glynn County School teacher work days.  We offer a summer program, four weeks in June and four weeks in July. The first day of school is August 8, 2019.

Does FBP follow a specific curriculum?

As a facility licensed through the Georgia State Bright from the Start Program, we follow the educational guidelines set forth by the State of Georgia.  Teachers also utilize the Creative Curriculum, a Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning approved curriculum that supports the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards.  This curriculum provides children with developmentally appropriate learning activities that encourage physical, cognitive, social, emotional and language development.

If a child is enrolled at the school during the school year, do they have to also attend during the summer?

Children do not have to attend during both the school year and the summer. Registration for the school year and the summer sessions occurs independently.  Children may attend both sessions but will need to register for each session separately.

What are the teacher to child ratios?

It is the goal of our preschool to provide children with the best quality care and attention.   In keeping the teacher/ child ratios low, we believe we will be better able to serve the children in our care.  We do follow the Georgia Bright from the State Guidelines for staff to child ratios and supervision and requirements are different for each age group.  There are usually 2 adults in each room and sometimes 3.  We also have a Floater who is able to assist in classes when needed.

What are the security features at the preschool?

The safety of the children at First Baptist Preschool is our top concern.  The doors of the preschool are locked during school hours with parents and staff obtaining access through a fingerprint scan.  The classrooms, playground and indoor play space are also equipped with security cameras.

Is there a part time option?

Due to the small size of the school, which we feel provides children with the best, personalized care possible, all enrollment at the school is on a full-time basis.

When is registration for the 2019-2020 school year?

Registration opens at 7am Friday, March 22, 2019 and is on a first come first serve basis. There are limited spots available.  Once spots are filled you can ask to be placed on our waiting list.
