Youth Wednesday Night Live

This Wednesday night, Youth Wednesday Night Live will be returning to the Epic Café at 6:30 p.m. During this time we will be looking at our faith through the eyes of cinema. We will discuss how we can deepen our walk with Christ and how we can use everyday events to share our faith with our friends. This will end each week at 7:15 p.m.

School has started and we are settling back into the routine of life. During September youth praise band, youth choir and prayer breakfast will start back. I am excited about each of these activities! Details for each of these events will be coming soon. Make sure you check the Lifeline and the youth Facebook page for more details.

Also, during the month of September, the youth will share in a time of food and fellowship at the homes of a different church member each Sunday night. We will meet at the church at 5:00 p.m. and return to church at 7:00 p.m. Because of Night of Joy, our Sunday night schedule will not start until September 15th. This Sunday night we will join the rest of the church for a worship service at the lighthouse. Come ready to worship and eat boiled peanuts and homemade ice cream!

Youth Lunch and Snatch

The Costa Rica youth lunch went exceptionally well this past Sunday. A big thank you to the church for continuing to come and support our youth. Thank you to Glenda Kessler for her guidance and direction in this area. Donnie Jordan did an amazing job with the meal, if the youth ate like that in Costa Rica; I’m buying a ticket tomorrow. Linda Knight gave us a little piece of Costa Rica with her decorating in the Fellowship hall. Many other adults were involved and deserve a thank you, but they are too many to list here.

Welcome to our newest youth group members. This past Saturday morning Allyson Jennings, Peyton Jennings, and Mattie Colquitt were snatched from their beds at 6:00 a.m. and thrown into the pool of Lon and Joy Lewis. We had a great time and look forward to getting to know them as we grow closer as a group and to God.

Come Hear About Costa Rica Missions

This Sunday, the youth of First Baptist St. Simons that went on the Costa Rica mission trip, would like to say thank you to the congregation for their support. After the 10:30 a.m. service there will be a lunch provided for every member of our congregation in the fellowship hall. The cost of this meal is free. While dining, you will be able to hear more about this life changing experience that you helped make possible for our youth. So, make plans to spend time with us as we eat and fellowship together this Sunday.

Getting to Know the Youth

I have had a great time getting to know our youth over the last few days. We spent a meaningful time of worship this past Sunday night at The Gathering Place and we are fresh off the sand from the Youth Beach Olympics Tuesday afternoon. I’m also real excited about the activities we have planned in the coming days. This Thursday, July 25th, we have a mystery mission trip planned that will use the student’s creativity to touch the people of this community. On Saturday, July 27th, the youth will meet at the church at 7:00 a.m. We will be headed to Ichetucknee Springs for a time of tubing. Bring five dollars for tubing and enough money for a fast food meal. We will return to the church at 7:00 p.m. Finishing up the summer we will have a back to school swim bash at the home of Lon and Joy Lewis on July 28th. Meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. We will return to the church at 7:30 p.m. BREAKING NEWS… if you would like to go to the Gathering Place that night bring a change of clothes and we will head over to Epworth for a time of worship. This is the last Gathering Place worship of the summer, so I encourage you to come. We will return to the church at 10:30 p.m. I Hope to See you there!

Words From Our Children’s Ministry Interns

This summer has been a bit of a surprise to me. I think I may be enjoying all of the activities as much as the kids are.  I knew all of them before I took the internship but to be able to be with them this summer has been so much fun.  Thanks Rebekah for picking fantastic things for us to go do!—Abby

For the past year I have been working with the kindergarten and first grade Sunday school class. With this summer internship, I have gotten to work with all ages of the children’s ministry. I think my favorite part of the summer has been going on the mystery trips. It is fun to see the reaction of the children at the surprise adventure. Of course, VBS and choir camp have always been important to me because they minister to many nonmembers. —Ansleigh

For Youth, Summer is Still Packed with Activities

This past Sunday the youth had a cookout at Neptune Park. It was a great time of food, fellowship, games and discipleship. I would like to thank the youth parents for cooking and for teaching us the ins and outs of corn hole. This was just the first activity of many that we have scheduled for the rest of July before the students return to school.

Starting this Sunday July 21st, we will have five activities in eight days. The youth will meet here at 7:30 p.m. to head over to the Gathering Place for a time of worship in Brunswick, Ga. We will return to the church at 11:00 p.m. On July 23rd, the youth will meet at church at 10:00 a.m. and head over to the beach for The Beach Olympics. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and dress for activities in the sand and the water. On Thursday July 25th, we will have a youth mystery mission activity at the church. Students will need to bring money for lunch at McDonalds. For this activity youth will need to meet at the church at 12:00 p.m. and the event will end at 3:00 p.m. Then, on Saturday July 27th, the youth will meet at the church at 7:00 a.m. We will be headed to Gainesville for a time of tubing at Ichetucknee Springs. Bring five dollars for tubing and enough money for a fast food meal. We will return to the church at 7:00 p.m. finishing up the summer we will have a back to school swim bash at the home of Lon and Joy Lewis on July 28th. More details about this event in the next lifeline. Also don’t forget to check the youth Facebook page (FBCSSI Youth). Signup sheets for all of the above events will be available in the Epic Café starting this Sunday. I look forward to seeing each of you at these activities.

Josh White, Interim Youth Minister

I am excited about the opportunity to serve FBC St. Simons as the interim youth minister. We have a wonderful group of kids, parents, and volunteers that are ready to continue to seek the will of God for their lives. On Monday July 8, we had a parent and youth volunteer meeting. During this meeting, we focused on the many ways we can share God’s love with the youth in our church and throughout the community. We also began to look at the addition of many fun filled and spiritual development focused trips and activities. Make sure you pay attention to the lifeline and other communications over the coming weeks to see what is in store for our youth!
